Growing your audience on Bluesky is about connections. You follow people, some follow back, and those are the people who actually want to hear from you.
But once someone follows you back, how do you start a conversation? How do you let them know what you’re about — without being weird about it?
Broadcast DM lets you send a personal message to people who followed you back from one of your workflows.
How it works
- Pick a workflow — select which group of followers you want to message
- Write your message — up to 1,000 characters, plain text, whatever feels natural
- Preview your recipients — see exactly who will receive the message before you send anything
- Send it — the message goes out to each person individually, as a regular DM
That’s it. No templates, no fancy formatting — just a real message to people who already showed interest by following you back.
Who sees your message
Only people who followed you back from a specific workflow. Not your entire follower list. Not random people. Just the ones who actively chose to follow you after you connected with them.
And there are built-in protections:
- People who have DMs disabled are skipped — they won’t receive anything they don’t want
- Each person can only receive one message from you — ever. If someone already got a welcome DM from a previous workflow, they’re excluded
- You can filter by date — want to message only people who followed back this week? Done
Preview before you send
Before anything goes out, you see a full preview:
- How many people will receive the message
- A list of each recipient with their handle
- How many were excluded and why (already messaged, DMs disabled, date filter)
No surprises. You know exactly what’s happening before you hit send.
See what happened after
After the message goes out, you get a full breakdown:
- How many were sent successfully
- How many were skipped (and why)
- How many failed
You can click into any broadcast to see the status of every individual recipient. Complete transparency.
Who can use it
Broadcast DMs are available on the Pro plan. There’s a daily limit of 50 messages — enough to reach a meaningful group without being overwhelming.
The limit resets at midnight UTC each day.
